AS Sunilra aka Appunni, the absconding manager of Malayalam superstar
Dileep, has surrendered to the Special Investigation Team (STI)
conducting the probe of the Malayalam actress assault and abduction
case.
The Indian Express
reports that the Kerala High Court had sent a notice to Appunni asking
him to appear before it after the SIT had informed the Court that
Dileep's manager had to be questioned in the case to ascertain whether
he was a co-conspirator or not.
The Times of India
reports that Appunni, who had filed for anticipatory bail in the Court,
had expressed concerns over possibilities of torture during the
investigation. However, the Court rejected the bail which led to
Appunni's surrender. He was absconding in a Goa resort, as per the same
report.
India Today
reports that Appunni is currently being questioned by the SIT at the
Aluva Police Club. The same report states that the chief accused, Pulsar
Suni had made calls to a few numbers that have links with Appunni.
These calls were made between 23 November, 2016 and 17 February, 2017.
Last week, Suni's bail plea was rejected
by the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The prosecution
contested his dismissal, stating that letting him out could hamper the
pace of the investigation and that the accused might destroy some
important evidence, such as a mobile phone and sim card, which has not
been recovered yet.
